CHEERLEADING CLINIC presented by Team All Stars

We are inviting the Rangsit cheerleaders from Rangsit University to conduct a 2 day cheerleading clinic. A professional cheerleading coach, and 4 cheerleaders from the RSU team will be down here for 5 days trip. Besides the clinic, the RSU team will also spend a day with Team All Stars for a training session.

If you are interested, and happen to be entering your team for Cheer 2005, this is the bestest opportunity. Will do many many good. I mean of course there is the clinic to be held before Cheer 2005 but isn't that a bit too last minute to change. At least you can try a few new tricks from Thailand. And mind you, RSU team was last year's Grand Chmapion at BCA International Cheerleading Championship.

The clinic will be held at Kampong Pandan Sports Complex. 9am - 5pm. Clinic fee RM65, which will include a clinic t-shirt. We have request for some corporate sponsorships, hopefully we will have some goodies in too! Yay, I can't wait!

Team All Stars on V MAG!

Well you read the headings...
Get the May 2005 issue, BUY IT, then you turn to page 102-103. The interview. Me. Pictures of the team.

First of all, this is part of the team's publicity to get noticed by the 1.public 2.corporates.
Well the pictures taken at KLCC Park is not very appealling. Only half of the member came, and knowing that only 1 flyer (girl) manage to come. So we had to do some changes just for the camera woman.

What I have spoken about the cheer scene here in Malaysia is not very much detailed because I did not want to spark any contravery. Elsewhere, male cheerleaders should be given extra respect. What Vulcanz boys did last year was a true inspiration. I heard at least 2 schools are sending an all boys team this year! Biar betul! Huhuhu...

Battle of The Dancers - Review

My Review

Okay, first of all, to all my fans (and All Stars)...I'm sorry that we weren't up to expectations! Hahaha. The routine was only rehearsed in TWO days! We were in for the fun of it. My biggest thank you to all cheerleaders who cheered for GREENUPS! If you wondered why Greenups....

1. Green was the favortie colour of most of the members who were going to compete. (Me and Nita!!)
2. GreenUp was in fact the 14 times National cheerleading champion in America!
so there goes the explanation....

Anyway, I was really, really nervous when the time has come. I entered the hall, saw the names of the other group competing, so canggih! Ade Gothic Friz, and Giler Battle Crew. Wow! Perlu ke sampai naik gile?! Then some weird ones like Funky Socks and simply poshy Ruined and Poised. Some very street-name like Definition. Classy name like Rouged.

I applaude and give TWO thumbs up to the winner and runner-up Funky Socks and Gothic Friz. Their showmanship was really interesting, it shows so much of work has been done. I'm not outdoing other dance group (we all worked hard). But the overall performance showed that these two groups were a par better. Funky's Intro Asmaradana was neat as compared to Gothic's theaterical opening.

Overall, I enjoyed the night, DJ Roshaan rocked! Everyone went crazy dancing on the floor. The music was okay, I only assumed that everyone was so into dancing because dah naik semangat after watching the competition itself. Semua TAK NAK KALAH BULUH! Gosh! Ade tu berpeluh sampai bau hanch! Ah.....

If the organisers had more money, they should have the following awards:

BEST COSTUME: Funky Socks
BEST INTRO: GreenUps
BEST SHOWMANSHIP: Ruined and Poised
BEST PROP: Funky Socks and Ruined and Poised
BEST ORIGINALITY: Rouged
BEST TALENT: Definition and Gothic Friz
BEST CHOREOGRAPHY: Funky Socks and Gothic Friz

Tahniah!

SUKMA - Cheerleading

Hey. Everyone has heard of Sukan Malaysia, right? Or better known as SUKMA!
Have you ever wondered if cheerleading was included, which state would strike gold?!

Hahaha... I have my predictions.

If there was cheerleading in SUKMA, at least these 4 states would be competing. Ie. Wilayah Persekutuan KL, Selangor, Perak and Penang. Sarawak and Sabah might participate if the state government pushes for a team.

The competition would be a rival between KL and Selangor since our best cheerleaders comes from this two states (Shirtliff and Xavier in KL and Dynamitez in Selangor). Perak will be in 3rd without no doubt because Titans Ipoh are the backbone of the Silver state. The rest will be just make up the numbers! Haha. So here it is, the (konon) result:

GOLD: WPKL
SILVER: SELANGOR
BRONZE: PERAK

Good luck!

Cheer 2005 prediction...

Okay, I hope nobody gets insulted, or perhaps stressed by this personal prediction of mine. As we already know, Cheer 2005 is held two days this year. On July 2 & 3. The first day serves as the qualifying rounds and the finals the following day.

As far as I am concern, only the Top 10 will eventually qualify for the Finals. Who will make it then? Here goes my prediction:

1. Shirtliff - SBU (duh!)
2. Xavier - CBN (duh!)
3. Dynamitez - DJ (duh!)
4. Maclay - SBU (duh!)
5. Titans - AMC Ipoh (duh!)
6. Adele - CBN (duh!)

These SIX teams are the obvious one that would qualify to the Finals. Period. Leaving behind 4 places up for grabs. And my bet would be on:

7. Sellors - St Mary
8. Shewanaz - Sri Garden
9. Blitzers - Bandar Utama 4
10.Xircon - SU

Well I won't neglect a few other teams whom might just squeze themselves in the Top 10. The teams in this category would be Cyrens (Sri KL), Vulcanz (Seafield) and D'Starz (Sri Aman).

I also heard that besides AMC Ipoh Titans, there would be another 2 teams competing this year from Ipoh. Main Convent Ipoh is making a comeback. Remember Kynetics? And another school, Methodist Girls School (MGS) Ipoh is sending a team, Cayvell! Whoo. 3 teams from Ipoh! Zinger!

Sarawak?
Sabah?

Is Xavier still hot to go?

Xavier is SMK Covent Bukit Nenas's cheerleading team. Has been the power house at their own backyard on Sports Day. Just like Shirtliff during its BBGS days.

Xavier cheerleading team has been the other team to watch at every cheer edition besides of that BBGS team lah. This situation is so irony to that in the movie Bring It On, where two teams Clovers and Toros share the simmillar colour of Xavier (Green) and Shirtliff (Red). Cool!

There are a few things to be noticed besides seeing the whole lot CBNers conquering the stadium in green t-shirts. Huhuhu. The very original E-go-ya (sorry, I don't know the speelingcorrectly) cheer. And also that Who is the King of the Jungle? cheer....

Cheers are cute, but happen to the team recently?

Xavier made its first public real impression when they came in 2nd at Cheer 2001, losing out to Shirtliff by a few points. The then captain, Ruzana Ibrahim promised that the next year the trophy will be theirs. And so it did. Captain Haznita Hamzah led to a histroy victory, preventing Shirtliff of winning the title for its 3rd time. That sweet victory was sweet, because personally I think the hard work the Xavier girls put in was tremnedous. Xavier was the first team to include tumblers in the team.

Cheer 2003 saw Xavier slipping to 3rd place. And believe me, defending the title is much more difficult in which the co-captains Zayanah Ibrahim and Maria Elena had to carry. That year so the zinger! Michael Jackson intro. Who cannot forget that? Elsewhere, the team tried to much perhaps and in the end losing much steam.

Cheer 2004, they promise to come back. But initially fall out of theTop 3, finishing 4th. Even losing out to its junior team Adele. I can't say much of the performance last year. I love it overall, but I thought they could have gone further.

This year, what I heard is that most seniors will be going back to school and train the Xavier team. I hope this formula works (the school spirit, and the determination to win!) because I would really want to see a great comeback from Xavier this year. Though I don't want to expect to much, but at least make a good comeback from last years defeat. Cause if Xavier keeps on falling and falling (which I don't think any fanatic Xavier fan would want that to happen!), I guess the school will have to focuc on the marching band then which recently finished 3rd at the Wilayah Band Comp!

DELETE the past! DEFEAT the future!
Xavier is Hot To Go! H-O-T-T-O-G-O, aumm!

All Stars terbang ke UK!

So..it is finally confirmed! The members has set, the money has been put on the table.....

Team All Stars confirms participating at International Cheerleading Championships 2005, Nottingham, UK.

This project has been planned since Dec 2004. The senior members sat down and made serious discussions on the BCA Project in which the members were suppose to compete last year, but due to unforseen circumstances, it was all fluke!

Now it is no more. We are committed, convinced, and perked up to fly with Malaysia Airlines, and bring back glory to Malaysian cheerleading! We have not finalised the names of participants, but we have already made arrangements with BCA and our confirmation to compete. We paid our deposits, and now it is time to work on the routine...and of course pumping in $$$ to send us abroad. If not, then we have to solicit from our own personal bank account!

Team All Stars will compete in the Senior Co-Ed intermediate division. We don't know what are the strength of other teams in our division, but hopefully we will get some vidoes of last years winners. And make reviews.

The team will be at Putra Stadium next month for a competition. That will serve as a warm up and also a review to the teams progress.

Practices are on weekends, 3 hours each. But our trainings will be increased when nervousness takes control!

Owwwwhhhh.....did you know that Team All Stars will be bringing down Rangsit University cheerleaders from Bangkok, with a coach too, for sparring sessions, and also conduct a close door 2 days clinic. You wanna join?!

Team All Stars is about achieving higher goals together, and sharing them with fellow countrymen! Sharing is caring.

Results!

Hmmmm....kan I dah kata!

So results are out! My prediction weren't that bad!

1. Maclay (yay!)
2. Cooke (good job!)
3. Prouse (zinger!)
4. Green (fetch!)
5. Shirtliff (oops!)

I arrive school a little bit later than expected. My first cheer scene was looking at the Shirtliff girls in their 95% all black uniform. I thought Shirtliff was Red House and not Black! Hmmmmm. But the uniform was really different, I mean the skirt.

I was gasping for fresh air. Nervous betul! After all the hard work, thinking of the routine and getting the stunts all up. Waited for near 15mins for the Maclay girls to change. Finally get to see them in the uniforms, wow. Its so fetch lah!

The Competition started on time. I thought, I thought they would start a bit later. I didn't manage to get my seat, but instead front view!

Shirtliff started the ball rolling. The routine was... okay-okay lah. The transitions was nice, but stunts wise the difficulty weren't that - difficult. But the Shirtliff girls did a clean routine.

Next Prouse! I did not expect much from them, but they really surprised me. The formations and presentation wise was really cool. Eye catching! Stunt wise, I guess they were on par with Shirtliff.

Then came the favorites, Cooke! One thing that I was really nervous about was that Cooke team would display a clean routine, and eventually win the competition. I have not seen the whole routine, except the dances in which I personally think it was class A choreograph. Good job! After they perform, which was clean too, I got my nerves together. I have to make sure Blue team gets their power phscyed up!

Maclay next. Well, personally I didn't think that Maclay would have a chance to win. Firstly, members weren't as committed. The captain weren't as tegas. But I gave them difficult stunts. Hope it work. And it did! I was actually amazed myself. All stunt did work, and I was really proud of them. Yup, tahu lah I was given the nick name gila kuasa. Menjadi jugak formula aku!
Yes! Yes! Afterwards, I was still nervous.

Green close the competition with nice dance. Although stunting wise they have improve a little compared to last year, then again having not much of variety would eventually put them out of Top 3.

When the results was announced, I was trying to show the "confident" look. Padahal dalam hati, boleh ke guru-guru SBU ni jadi judge cheerleading! Do they even know what is an elevator, or the right hand motions?! I was a little bit worried, because when the chief judge gave comments, she said: "Girls, your throws are not good enough...." Throws?! What she meant was tosses and extentions.... Gosh.

Overall, kudos to the teachers.
1. For giving the title to Maclay, again! (yay!)
2. For being a supportive lot! (yay!)
3. For Shirtliff...getting 5th?! (booooo!)

Don't ask me, how the heck Shirtliff ended in 5th?!

SBU CHEER Carnival

SBU CHEER Carnival 2005

Hohoho...
The time has come once again, to decide which team gets to represent SMK Seri Bintang Utara at Cheer 2005.
We all know that SMK SBU has won 4 out 5 times of the national edition losing out only in 2002 to SMK CBN. SBU has a very strong cheerleading tradition. This is proof with the splendid performance of the 4 times National champion Shirtliff.
Last year, a big twist happened at SBU's CHEER Carnival. Since this is the sort of qualifying rounds for selections to the Nationals, it has been Shirtliff winning the carnival. Leaving it to Maclay and Green to always fight it in between them. But last year saw a big setback when Shirtliff was not even in the Top3. Maclay (blue house) came out tops followed by Cooke (yellow) and Green third (green!).
But the school made a decision that since Shirtliff is already a well known team at the National level, the name shall remain but the colour changes to compensate Cooke members. So that is why we saw Shirtliff last year with the Yellow-Black uniforms.
This year sees Shirtliff (red) coming back again. The Finals is held this Wednesday April 6 2005 at the school hall. Shirtliff is sending a strong 16 members and trying to emulate their 2003 victory again. Last years winner, Maclay is parading mostly the senior members. It looks like Maclay would be going for a tough time in retaining their title. Cooke, has the determination to become Champions for the first time. Their routine looks good. Green has the chances to sneak in Top 2 if any of the favorite 3 slips and fall in their stunts. Prouse (purple house) is the remaining house who has not been giving much fight. Perhaps in years to come.
My prediction:
1. Maclay
2. Cooke
3. Shirtliff
4. Green
5. Prouse
