Pengumuman

Dear readers,

Beginning of the month of October and the following months after that, I would like to specially introduce a special feature.
I will be posting a short interview of Malaysian cheerleaders all across the nation. This interview session, Q&A, will be posted every Monday of the week. Cheerleaders are carefully selected, as these bunch of peeps are given thier short of fame for their hardwork and dedication in making cheerleading a respectable sport in Malaysia!
I have a few list of candidates, and will be posting the first cheerleader next week!
If you have someone in mind, or maybe I have slipped him / her from my DREAM team list, please email me!
Remember, keep on cheering!

Cheer Emas 2005 update

Dear cheerleaders,

Please to inform everyone that there would be international teams participating at the Cheer Emas competition this November. My friends from Indonesia and Thailand has informed me that there is a high school team from each both countries interested to participate and they have already requested for the guidelines and entry form.

Both teams are excited to compete, as this would be their first overseas competition. I hope my dear cheerleaders in Malaysia will come and support! This event would be an interesting affair! Cheers.

Malaysian CheerBoys - Where art thou?

When I first started to form All Stars with a few cheer-freaks (all girls), I thought....I want more guys to be in it! Just like how the Americans are doing. So I did tried to rob in a few friends. I failed.

Came in 2003, I was at the briefing of Cheer 2003. Thanks to Beverley, we met a few more aspiring cheerleaders who think like us. They wanted to pursue further in cheering, perhaps cheering the rest of their lives. I met really nice people, including guys. At that point, I though "This is it!". The inclusion of Vulcanz All-Boys in the 2004 picture was inpsiring. We needed the boys to be in the frame to promote cheerleading to a better perspective. This year was another achievement for all, as we had another all-boy team in the North competition.

Now that we have come to the 6th competitive year, what we have achieve is quite impressive overall. Although the part of getting more guys to compete is rather sad. But with a group of people who are very fanatic with cheerleading (like me!), it will take another big step to encourage more guys to participate.

Earlier this year, I made a bid to include more boys in the team (Team All Stars). Instead of the usual two ( me and John), I wanted new faces. So came the audition for BCA 2005 team, I met 2 guys who were really in the right mood at that time. They were spirited and excited. Ludwig is only 16 and now a cheer-freak like me, and Faisal who is 21 and now cheering with the Bobcats Montana State University! I'm glad both of them has found something that has inspired them to be a better person. My cheer buddy John has grown to be a matured and more dedicated to cheering these days.

Cheerleading is not just a sport. It is a circle of life. You meet many people, of which you will learn many things from everyone. In the aspect of friendship, relationship and even values. I hope more guys will participate for the fun of this sport. And then, perhaps at a later day they will be much serious with it because they have found that cheerleading is more than cheering!

So guys, dare you do stunts with my girls?

Shirtliff and her BBGS thing...

*in the past, peeps who are so not into BBGS would call them the Budak-Budak Gila S***! Huhu. Same goes to CBN, and VI...it has it's own stupid mockery meaning.

Anyways, last night I spend my evening with the Shirtliff and Maclay cheerleaders at an event in Hilton KL. It was a 15 minutes routine for both teams, which turned out fine overall. Each team had 8 members cheering out loud for Standard Chartered Bank.
At first I was a little bit furious, cause the girls were nearly TWO hours late for the rehearsals. Thank God, Beryl the event lady was so gentle and cool. It was good to see some of them again after the setbacks of Cheer 2005. A reunion for me with Jill, who cut her hair. She looked prettier but matured. Raja was there too! Perlu ke menyibuk? Hehehe. I was so happy to see her in action, as she was on a week break from her horrifying stories of UiTM Melaka. Then again, could it be that bad?
The rest of the girls were so funny. They joked, and made some nasty comment of which I thought it is something common to them. They were a few lot who are so camera freak, which I'm so used to with my Allstars babes. And some posed are called, "horny" and "bitchy". I did talk to some of them and get to know the team better. Shirtliff and Maclay can be rivals on the blue mat but not behind the scene. They are just the Nisi Domius Frustra sisters! I was a Shirtliff fan from Melissa's day (Cheer 2001). I've also asked what are their preparations for next year. Raja said.......................
I just can't wait then for Cheer 2006. If you're a cheer freak like me, you'll just be so pump-excited and can't wait what are SBU plans for next year. Something bizzare!
Good luck girls!

Back in action!

The weekend was a hectic schedule for Team All Stars. We had 2 charity performance.
1. X-fresh & KOSMO! Futsal Challenge at Sports Unlimited, PJ (Saturday)
9 of us performed the UK routine. Didn't do much as 5 of the remaining team members couldn't make it or were not in town. Anyways, X-fresh will be interviewing us on X-fresh FM at a later date! And we will be appearing on Astro Channel 80 for the Absolute Football program! So fetch!
2. Malaysia AIDS Council's Riding For Life Campaign at Menara KL (Sunday)
We performed a simillar routine. Except only 7 made it! The audience which include Dato' Paduka Marina Mahithir loved the routine. Duh!
More performances to come, but we are also in the midst sorting out our new training schedules. We will also post out our audition date for new members!

Hello to our Indonesian friends!

You might want to know and ask how cheerleading is like in our neighbouring countries. I will start with our little known cheerleading friends in Indonesia.
I got to know this guy, who happens to be someone who is just like me with what I am doing here in Malaysia. He is a cheer freak and also a self-taught cheerleader coach. He and his team got the idea to form a community (or Association to us) in Jakarta.
They are still new, but have so much of keen interest to develop cheerleading as a healthy activity. Sadly only all-girls teams participates at various competition in Jakarta. Boys don't compete because:
1. It's a girls sport
2. No keen interest
3. No male-cheerleader publicity
So hopefully in the near future, we (Team All Stars) would be able to work on some program with them and perhaps promote a better cheerleading idea to them.

Merdeka All Stars!

Exactly 2 years ago, in 2003, me and my team-mates won our very first cheer trophy together. It was a competition in conjuction with the Merdeka celebration organised by Sungei Wang Plaza. Then, we competed for CHARM All Stars.

As this was our very first tournament together, it took big courage as this was our first competing against our own school teams. Most of them were from Shirtliff and Xavier, but thank God both teams weren't there. But, the fact that other teams then were really good too! Dynamitez and Maclay was in the frame!

But hey, thanks to them the competition wouldn't be fun too. We came out tops, followed by DJ and Maclay.

That was the first, and knew that there was more to come...
