So what to lookout for this year?
Last year saw a few teams attempting higher difficulty in loads which includes the 180 twist and 360 twist. This time around expect the same, but perhaps more sharper and cleaner presentation.
Dismount wise, only three teams of the 20 odd teams attempted craddle twist. The two SBU teams and the only male team. But this year, I would expect more teams (especially the experienced one - including defending champs) doing twist craddle. It's like a compulsory element if you wish to finish in the Top 3. But please remember, a complete and clean rotation is needed in order to score perfect.
Single leg stunt. I was quite unhappy with last years performances. Not many teams has had single leg stunts in their routine. Even DJ and the SBU teams has only 1-2 to show. The only obvious one was by Xavier who had 3 scorpions. It is not necessary to attempt the extended version. If you have 4 elevated scorpions, and performed clean and neat I would rest assure your team will score many points compared to woblly extensions by other team.
Toss. Flyers performing tosses has improved on the snapping skills. DJ, Vulcanz and SBU obviously had mastered the technique. St Mary and AMC too has improved.
Transitions. Bear in mind, performing a stunt and repeating it again could bore the judges. Try to avoid doing elevators here and there. Maybe you could be more creative. Transitions is aimed to see how you can plus and add various stunting skills into one. Eg. DJ did 180 twist up elevator, to extension and craddle. Shirtliff did show kick load to elevator and twist craddle.
Good luck choreographing!
